I build Kickstride on my own, so your email comes straight to me. Questions, bugs, and ideas are all welcome.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start a workout.
Why does the app ask for Location “Always”?
With “Always”, the voice coach keeps talking when the screen is locked and the phone is in your pocket. The app uses your location only during a run. With “While Using”, coaching works when the screen is on.
Can I use it without Location?
Yes. The timer and the voice coach work without Location. The app then records the time of a run, but not the distance, pace, or route.
How do I save runs to Apple Health?
Allow Apple Health in the app's Settings. Each finished run then goes to Apple Health as a workout, and also shows in Apple Fitness.
A week of Road to 5K is too hard. What do I do?
Do that week again before you go on. Repeating a week is normal. Slow down, too: you should be able to talk while you jog.
I don't hear the voice cues.
Turn up the media volume. To hear cues with the screen locked, set Location to “Always”. If you still hear nothing, choose another voice in the app's Settings.
Can I move my runs to a new iPhone?
Yes. Set up the new iPhone from a backup of the old one (iCloud or your computer), and the app's history comes with it. Runs saved to Apple Health move with your Health data.
